GEORGIANS FOR NEBRASKA DONATES ANOTHER $8,000 IN 2008 TO SEND GEORGIA HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO THE UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA-LINCOLN

Atlanta – February 8, 2008 - For the third year in a row, relocated Nebraska Alumni and supporters of Nebraska, living in the Georgia area, have shown their amazing support for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Georgians for Nebraska (GA4NE), the official alumni chapter of the Nebraska Alumni Association and official Husker Nation chapter of the Nebraska Athletic Department, announces its 2008 donation to its scholarship fund.

This $8,000 donation drives the organization’s three-year total to over $28,000 in financial support given to the University of Nebraska Foundation, in Lincoln, Neb. This year’s gift once again includes a $1,000 donation by Jocks and Jill’s, Norcross, home of GA4NE’s “watch site” activities,

The GA4NE scholarship fund is reserved for Georgia high school students interested in attending college at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The fund currently has more than $55,000 available. According to chapter president, Kenny Hemmer, of Atlanta, the donation represents a huge opportunity for Georgia students.

“Sending students from Georgia to Lincoln is the ultimate goal of our organization.” said Hemmer. “Our monies raised from membership dues and chapter events and programming are solely devoted to the scholarship fund.”

Based in Atlanta, GA4NE is a collection of volunteers – alumni and fans of Husker athletics – that work tirelessly to support awareness of the University. The chapter’s signature programming event, watch site parties, are held during college football season where hundreds of Husker fans meet at Jocks and Jill’s, to cheer on the Big Red football program.

As a not-for-profit, volunteer-ran organization, GA4NE endeavors to generate funds to support the chapter’s leadership role in sending a Georgia high school student to the University of Nebraska- Lincoln.
