Nebraska
Limited Edition Complete 9 Coin Set

9
Coin Set
This complete, 9 coin acrylic collection display is the envy of every Nebraska
memorabilia collector. It is very sharp - pictures hardly do it justice! 3 pieces
of clear acrylic just over an inch thick hold all 9 University of Nebraska commemorative
coins produced, sandwiching the coins between the acrylic and allowing you to
see both the front and the back of each coin. The Red "N" in the center
and the clear polished, light catching edges all highlight the unit as laser
engraved pillar graphics and the phrase "A Tradition of Excellence"
says it all about the history of Nebraska football. The unit is slightly over
9" tall by 14" long and over 1" deep. It stands upright in a
base consisting of 2 tiered layers of black acrylic, and includes one each of
the following coins: The Final Big 8 Game coin, the 1996 Fiesta Bowl coin, the
Back to Back National Champions coin, the Tom Osborne¹s 25 Anniversary
coin, the 1997 National Champion coin, the Frank Solich coin, the Charlie McBride
coin, the Eric Crouch coin, and the most recent addition, the Callahan Era coin.
Final
Big 8 Coin
This coin is an exact duplicate of the coin tossed just prior to the 1995 Nebraska
vs Oklahoma football game that took place in Lincoln, Nebraska on November 24,
1995. This was to be the last football game to be played between any two Big
8 football teams ever, as the Big 8 conference was in the process of adding
new members to it¹s organization. Nebraska won the game 37-0.
This coin
was minted for a one time duration, and is now out of production. It¹s
value has increased dramatically from its release in 1995. It is 2" in
diameter and is minted out of solid brass.
1996 Fiesta Bowl Coin
This coin is an exact duplicate of the coin tossed just prior to the January
2, 1996 Fiesta Bowl game, played in Tempe, Arizona, between the University of
Nebraska and the University of Florida for the collegiate football national
championship. Pundits had declared this game a mismatch between the wide open
offensive football style of Steve Spurier¹s Florida team vs the outdated
running game that Tom Osborne had nurtured at Nebraska. The game did turn into
a mismatch, with Nebraska completely dominating Florida and winning the game
62-24. The game is remembered by many Nebraska fans for an incredible, nearly
full field run from scrimmage for a touchdown by quarterback Tommie Frazier
that is referred to simply as "The Run".

announced his retirement at the end of the regular season. Nebraska went 13-0
and won a national title, defeating a Payton Manning led Tennessee team in the
Orange Bowl. Along the way, a determined Missouri team had upset expectations,
and except for a play dubbed the "Flea Kicker", would have succeeded.
